Stridex Acne Treatment Review

The Stridex brand has long been associated with anti acne skin care. Stridex has grown from a single product, an anti acne wipe, to an entire suite of anti acne and skin care products, including wipes, cleansers and lotions. The product we review here is Stridex Maximum Strength Pads, which is the product we consider the most potent and effective.

Stridex is delivered in an interesting manner - in the form of a cotton pad soaked with the Stridex anti acne formula.

Stridex Maximum Strength: effective ingredients

The Stridex formula relies on a single active ingredient: salicylic acid, at a concentration of 2%. Salicylic acid is a proven exfoliant and helps to cleanse clogged pores. At 2% concentration, this is the highest concentration of salicylic acid legally available without a prescription. At this concentration, dryness and even peeling of the skin can result. Non comedogenic moisturizers may be necessary for use with Stridex pads.

How to use Stridex

After cleansing the skin, a Stridex pad is to be wiped over the entire affected region of the skin. This is repeated with new pads until the cotton comes away from the skin clean - which means that oils and dead skin cells have been removed from the skin.

The Stridex pads are not to be left on the skin for extended periods. Those with sensitive skin should choose another Stridex formula or even a different product.

Stridex: our evaluation

Stridex Maximum Strength pads are a simple, straightforward and reasonably effective anti acne product. Stridex is not suitable for sensitive skin. Moreover, the inclusion of soothing and anti inflammatory ingredients would help to soothe the skin.

Applying the product with a cotton pad seems to be a bit of a gimmick. After all, wouldn't it make more sense for the user of the product to apply it to her own cotton pads? But the application does aid in the exfoliation of the skin, which simply massaging a product into the skin does not.

Nonetheless, Stridex is a reasonably effective product.
